Flood becomes new head of commercial risk property at Aon

Aon has announced the promotion of Vincent Flood as the firm’s new commercial risk property leader for North America.

Flood, who joined Aon more than 27 years ago, is based in New York and leads the design and implementation of complex global risk transfer programs, including captive programs, catastrophe coverage and engineering solutions.

He succeeds Rick Miller who passed away last month. Miller, Aon’s US property practice leader, passed away in April at the age of 62 following a brief illness. He joined the firm in 2005 as chief broking officer for national property, before becoming practice leader in 2016.

Prior to Aon, Flood worked as a property broker for Johnson & Higgins.

Brian Wanat, head of commercial risk solutions, North America at Aon, said on LinkedIn: “Congratulations to Vincent Flood! He's the best in the business! An amazingly talented career property broker with true character & grit! He's a savant in terms of subject matter expertise, a client advocate at the core with great market relationships fostered over decades. We're proud to name him the firm's new commercial risk property leader for North America!”

In an earlier note, Wanat said: “It is with a very heavy heart that I share the news of Rick Miller passing away last night. His was a brief but brutal illness, but he went peacefully with family by his side.

”[…]We literally just sang Happy Birthday to Rick in February at our big Aon North America offsite in Florida. Rick turned 62 this year. Good grief, the cancer consumed him so quickly.”
