Growing the next generation

CICA NEXTGen co-chairs Bailey Roese and Diana Hardy provide an update on the initiative.

With today’s challenging commercial market conditions, demand for captive insurance solutions has never been greater. As the industry grows, it must intentionally foster the next generation of talent to ensure captives remain a viable option for companies seeking alternative risk transfer mechanisms. The Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) has been the leader in developing initiatives to address this need.

CICA’s NEXTGen programme provides education and networking opportunities for young and new professionals in the captive insurance industry. By combining education about the industry and their personal experiences, NEXTGen is finding ways to make captive insurance resonate with the industry’s newest professionals. Through this supportive community, participants can grow personally and professionally.

“NEXTGen was one of the first spaces where I felt immediately connected and included.” Bailey Roese

“As someone recently involved in captive insurance, CICA’s NEXTGen was one of the first spaces where I felt immediately connected and included. NEXTGen offers tremendous value to new and seasoned CICA members, particularly as discussions about attracting and retaining talent become more prevalent,” says NEXTGen committee co-chair Bailey Roese.

Co-chair Diana Hardy agrees. “CICA’s focus on the future of this industry is extremely important. Newer captive professionals not only offer fresh perspectives and innovative ideas—they will be the leaders of tomorrow.

“NEXTGen offers its members an unparalleled opportunity to support one another as they advance in their careers.”

NEXTGen offers special networking opportunities at most major captive insurance conferences where young professionals can gather and feel welcome in what can be an intimidating environment for newcomers. NEXTGen’s Professional Development Webinar Series consistently receives positive feedback.

Participants find the small group sessions engaging, enlightening and fun to attend. The format provides an informal way for young and new industry professionals to get direct and unfiltered advice from career professionals across all industry sectors.

CICA’s board of directors actively supports the NEXTGen committee to ensure the voices of young and new professionals are incorporated into the CICA’s programmes to provide the education and networking they seek to advance their careers.
