Mosaic expands tax liability team

Mosaic Insurance has hired two tax-risk specialists, expanding its global transactional tax-liability team to meet what it says is rising demand in the sector, with the hire of.

Camille Zabukovec joined the company’s London office as an assistant vice president & tax underwriter, supporting the transactional team on tax risks in jurisdictions outside North America. She brings prior tax-risk underwriting experience and also previously worked as a tax attorney at a Paris-based firm, advising investment funds, insurance companies, and banks on tax-related aspects of domestic and cross-border transactions.

In New York, Roktim Kaushik joined Mosaic’s North America tax team as vice president, tax Americas. Before coming to Mosaic, he worked as a tax attorney with a Big Four accounting firm, where his practice focused on cross-border transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, and efficient tax structures for private equity funds.

“We are seeing booming demand for tax insurance as the product penetrates new markets around the globe,” said Jon Hutchens, global head of tax, transactional liability, at Mosaic. “Camille is a crucial addition to our London-based international team, with her industry and advisory experience in a variety of tax jurisdictions. Bringing Roktim aboard in North America, with his experience working on the most complicated tax issues, will make us even better positioned to deliver practical solutions for taxpayer clients.”

Mosaic’s tax-underwriting team is part of the company’s transactional liability division. It now consists of six specialists who focus on a range of M&A-related and standalone tax risks—for which the product indemnifies policyholders against specific tax liabilities, providing certainty during deal-making. The group distinguishes itself in complex tax issues and operates on a one-team global platform, backed by Mosaic’s syndicate 1609 capacity alongside trade capital from partner Lloyd’s syndicates, and supported by Mosaic’s sophisticated and experienced claims team.

“We are delighted to welcome the dual talents and experience of Camille and Roktim at this time of exciting growth for the team and the product,” said Will Gay, head of international tax, transactional liability, at Mosaic. “As we continue to work with our broker partners on innovation and promotion in the tax-insurance space, their contribution is, and will continue to be, key to our success.”

Transactional liability is one of seven lines of specialty business Mosaic underwrites. The firm’s other lines include: cyber, political risk, political violence, environmental liability, financial institutions, and professional liability.
